General Counsel Position: Notabene is currently seeking a highly qualified and proactive General Counsel to join our mission of mainstreaming crypto in everyday economics. This role goes beyond providing legal advice; it entails acting as a strategic business partner, participating in decision-making, offering preventive legal guidance, and ensuring the company’s legal protection across all matters.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Drafting and Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements globally, including data processing agreements, data transfer, and other commercial contracts.
  2. Legal Advisory: Provide guidance on a range of legal issues, from contract law to corporate governance, employee law, and litigation risk.
  3. Data Privacy Specialist: Act as the data privacy specialist, with flexibility for complex commercial contract negotiation when required.
  4. Risk Mitigation: Proactively research and anticipate potential legal issues, developing strategies to mitigate risks.
  5. Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations, conducting regular audits and recommending adjustments as needed.
  6. Litigation Management: Represent the company in legal proceedings, coordinate with external legal counsel, and manage litigation and dispute resolution processes.
  7. Continuous Legal Education: Stay updated on relevant laws, including consumer protection, commercial, IP, cyber-security, and data protection laws.

 

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of legal experience, preferably in a high-growth technology or SaaS business.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree with a strong academic background.
  • Knowledge of privacy and data protection laws (CCPA and GDPR), consumer protection, deceptive trade, and unfair marketing laws.
  • Legal drafting and negotiation skills, with experience in complex commercial agreements.
  • Project management and organizational proficiency with attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills with a creative and business-friendly approach.
  • Global perspective and cross-cultural sensitivity, capable of working across various time zones.
  • Strong work ethic and a sense of humor.
