Trump Confirmed to Attend TRUMP Memecoin Gala at Mar-a-Lago

US President Donald Trump will appear at an exclusive gala for top holders of his TRUMP memecoin at his Mar-a-Lago residence on Saturday, the White House confirmed on Friday. The confirmation comes after weeks of uncertainty about whether the president would attend the controversial event.

Reuters reported that the White House verified Trump will deliver a keynote address at the gala luncheon organized by the company behind the Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin. The event is restricted to the top 297 holders of the TRUMP token.

The top 29 holders will receive additional access to a private reception with the president. The event has drawn criticism from lawmakers who view it as a potential conflict of interest.

When the event was first announced in March, a White House official told Politico that it was not locked into Trump’s schedule. The official noted the event was scheduled for the same day Trump said he would attend the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, DC, marking his first appearance at the dinner as president.

The event’s terms and conditions acknowledge the uncertainty, stating that Trump may not be able to attend and that the event “may be canceled for any reason.” This disclaimer has not prevented organizers from promoting the president’s potential appearance to encourage attendance and token purchases.

Trump’s attendance at the memecoin event has become a contentious issue among lawmakers. Earlier this month, Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal and Adam Schiff reportedly sent a letter to Bill Zanker, the individual behind the TRUMP memecoin, questioning the president’s intentions.

The senators criticized what they characterized as an attempt to “dangle access” to the president at the upcoming event. Their letter expressed concern about the timing and promotion of the event.

“[O]rganizers are promoting a conference by dangling access to President Trump to potential attendees (and in doing so, are encouraging purchases of his meme coin that will generate transaction fees for the President and his family) on a day he may not actually be able to attend,” the letter stated.

The criticism centers on concerns that Trump is using his presidential position for personal financial gain. Transaction fees from TRUMP memecoin purchases reportedly benefit the president and his family financially.

This marks the second event organized for TRUMP token holders. The first event took place at a Trump golf club in May 2025 and attracted similar criticism from ethics watchdogs and political opponents.

Critics of the initial event argued that it represented an inappropriate use of presidential influence for private business interests. The upcoming Saturday event has reignited those concerns among lawmakers and government ethics experts.

The TRUMP memecoin launched in January 2025, just days before Trump’s inauguration. The token quickly gained attention in the cryptocurrency community, with early adopters accumulating significant holdings.

The memecoin’s launch was controversial from the start, with questions raised about whether it was appropriate for a sitting president to be associated with a cryptocurrency project. Supporters argued it represented innovation in political fundraising and fan engagement.

The gala at Mar-a-Lago represents a continuation of Trump’s unconventional approach to presidential activities and personal business ventures. The Florida residence has frequently served as a venue for official and unofficial presidential events since Trump took office.

The White House has not commented on the ethical concerns raised by Democratic senators or other critics of the event. Trump has previously defended his cryptocurrency ventures as legitimate business activities separate from his presidential duties.

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon at Mar-a-Lago. Details about the exact timing and format of Trump’s keynote address have not been publicly disclosed by organizers or the White House.
